Tried out my first speed session this morning. Ran a 2k warm up to the ovals next to the Par 3 golf course and driving range, stopped at the first oval and ran a loop around the four light poles. It was kind of like running bases is baseball. According to Garmy it was about 100m between each pole, so I set out to do 3 laps, equating to 6 intervals with 100m jogging recovery in between. I ran each interval in about 26-27sec, which later when looking briefly at the Garmy stats equates to about 4min.km pace…what an awful judge of pace I am. I meant to target 5min/sec as per my previous post…idiot, it was too early in the morning…I should have been running 30sec 100m’s. After running the 6 intervals I trotted off to the end of my 6k out and back route and then measured out the distance across the double oval which is on the otherside of the carpark. It was 250m across, so I might use this soon to run longer intervals at a more intelligent pace.
Now back to my musing about running from my place to my future sister in-laws on the otherside of Mount Lofty. By my calculation, using mostly the Yurrabilla Trail and a little bit of the Heysen trail to finish it off into Crafers, it would be about 30k from Ambers Gully (Torrens) to Crafers. When I consider that it would probably be 15k from home to Ambers Gully, that makes for a long run, maybe I should start by driving to Ambers Gully.

Sounds like a great long run. Build up to it then you’ll enjoy it.
Maybe the Garmin was having an off day?

Pack a lunch and make a day of it. Make sure you run the last 5km’s though. Gotta make it look like you rane the whole way!
