Corporate Cup 2007 – Run 7 – 4.3km footpath

So another year of Corporate Cup is over. I didn’t improve on my time from run 4, so the record still stands at 20min30sec.  I ran by myself today as the rest of my team piked.  Knowing that I was in no-where near PB condition I took the first k conservatively before latching onto someone passing me for the next km to improve my time.  By the start of the second lap I had an uncomfortable pain in my lower back on the left side so the pace slowed and I even had a 10sec break to try and stretch it out.  This seemed to improve things so I was able to trot out the remainder in a hardly spectacular style.  It was a pity because conditions, overcast, comparatively calm winds and a few spots of rain, were perfect for a PB, but alas weeks of idleness have left me a bit short on pace.  Still I am happy with the performance over the first half of the run series.

Forgot to mention that I have decide to pike myself from the Black Hill Challenge on Sunday for the second year in a row.  Not even being able to run out 4.3km today confirmed to me that I am not ready for such a strenuous race.  I will aim for one more race this year 10k in December…sub 50mins is the goal…now I will repeat the secret formula…consistent training!
